چکیده

Background: Despite the importance of skin microbiome for health, only a few studies in literature have compared normal (NS) and sensitive (SS). They showed no variations bacterial diversity indices but shifts abundance specific genera were noted SS. Here, we from individuals with/without SS at strain level resolution isolated representative strains culture to evaluate ingredients. Methods: Face swabs with (40) or (33) analyzed using 16S rRNA sequencing study strain-level diversity, prevalence abundance. We used droplet-based microfluidic technology (DBMT) create collection each cohort evaluated effects active ingredients on growth selected strains. Results: Here confirmed observations previous that there are increases Corynebacterium, Kocuria, Micrococcus Lactococcus decreases Staphylococci. additionally observed an increase S. aureus, C. kroppenstedtii Pseudomonas, decrease Lactobacilli. Using DBMT, several hundred ∼50 representatives NS. Some “microbiome-friendly” profile while others potential reestablish microbial resembling Conclusion: A better understanding communities subsequent ingredient testing clinically set is real interest select effective rebalancing soothing solutions consumers

Microfluidic droplet method for nucleation kinetics measurements.

In this work, we developed a microfluidic equivalent of the classical droplet method for investigating nucleation kinetics. Our microfluidic device allows us to store hundreds of droplets of small volume ( approximately 100 nL) and to accurately control their temperature. We also monitor directly all the stored droplets, and thus perform statistical measurements on a large number of nucleation ...

Measuring rapid kinetics by a potentiometric method in droplet-based microfluidic devices.

Droplets containing RNA and Mg(2+) were generated in microfluidic channels. By integrating a group of pneumatic valves and phase separation channels in the microfluidic system, the rapid RNA-Mg(2+) binding kinetics was studied by measuring the Mg(2+) ion concentration using an ion-selective electrode.

Viscoelastic Based Droplet Sorting in Microfluidic Channels

We present a passive droplet sorting technique based on intrinsic viscoelastic fluid properties dependent on inner and outer fluid phase viscosity ratio (k-value), droplet deformability, and viscoelastic properties. We demonstrate sorting rates of >200 Hz of both homogeneous and heterogeneous sized droplet populations between 40-100 μm‟s and enrichment rates as high as 99%. We demonstrate sorti...

Monodispersed microfluidic droplet generation by shear focusing microfluidic device

A microfluidic device designed to generate monodispersed picoliter to femtoliter sized droplet emulsions at controlled rates is presented. This PDMS microfabricated device utilizes the geometry of the channel junctions in addition to the flow rates to control the droplet sizes. An expanding nozzle is used to control the breakup location of the droplet generation process. The droplet breakup occ...

A programmable droplet-based microfluidic device applied to multiparameter analysis of single microbes and microbial communities.

We present a programmable droplet-based microfluidic device that combines the reconfigurable flow-routing capabilities of integrated microvalve technology with the sample compartmentalization and dispersion-free transport that is inherent to droplets. The device allows for the execution of user-defined multistep reaction protocols in 95 individually addressable nanoliter-volume storage chambers...
